Parallel Worlds Development

My parallel worlds comparison will be Fantasy / Reality.

↷I am hoping to use the ideas from the Maykel Lima workshop. I want to convey the idea of humans that look and act differently to us as people today. I also want to convey the idea of humans evolving to have very stretchy skin to survive being shot or hurt.

For this project I will need to take a picture of a person.

James Atwood Artist Research

James Atwood is an artist who uses shutter speed to add motion blur to his photos, I really like this because it adds movement to the image and is very effective at it. His image suggest the emotional distress he may be in.

Parallel Worlds Artist Research

This piece is by Michal Karcz. In this he most likely has taken an image of a mountain with clouds around it, flipped it, and added some flatland imagery on top, then blended them together where they meet.
I like his idea of this because it shows the idea of a world under ours.
I think that what he is trying to show here is how little we know about our world.

I enjoyed making this t-shirt design the most because making a detailed picture into geometric shape and making it look simple is interesting to me, it was fun to make and I like the outcome.

I think I need to improve on my skills at writing about what I make and why, I also need to look at a variety of different artists and get inspiration for work that I am not sure what to do on.

I did not enjoy the stop motion animation, although it was interesting it took a very long time and a lot of failed tries.

I would like to learn about manual settings on cameras.

I like this picture because there is a lot of detail on the plant and there is a fair amount of blur and detail on the plant behind.

Analysis Of Moving Image

1. This is most likely an action/horror movie because in the trailer it is most of the time very dark, there is a lot of gun fights and there is a lot of fast paced action. This shows that it is a horror/action because it being dark adds mood for the viewer, there being gun fights adds tension and the fast pace scenes make the viewer more excited.

2. At 00:40 there is an over the shoulder view of the portal that he is walking towards to show it is an important part of the movie, this also makes it seem like it is very mysterious.

At 00:50 it shows the man putting his gun back in his holster as a close up to make it more dramatic, this close up makes us feel like he is an important character.

At 01:56 the man reloads his revolver in a way that not many people can do, especially as fast, this makes the viewer impressed and jealous of the man, and shows that he might be about to do something that is important.

3. They have added a lot of different camera angles and a lot of cutting into the action and travelling scenes to make it more fast paced and to make it a lot more interesting to the viewer, especially in the fight scenes when it cuts from his gun to looking at the person he is shooting.This adds tension to where the bullets are going and adds tension to who would win the gunfight.

4. The sound of gun shots, shattering glass, and clanging metal have all been increased in volume to make them seem more powerful than they are, it also makes them more dramatic to the viewer and have them seem more important when things get hit. It can also draw the viewers attention to something other than what is on the scene.

5. The man has two revolvers which describes his character more as a western style guy. His guns, coat and clothing all look aged and well-worn. This describes his character as a man who has been through wars and battles. It also foreshadows that in the plot there will be violence and gun fights.

6. The lighting in the trailer and colour in the movie seems to be quite dull and dark, showing the viewer that there might be some horror scenes in the movie, the dullness might show that at some points in the movie there'll be parts with more vibrant colours, like the scenes when he is firing in slow motion and you can see the fire from the gunpowder coming out of the barrel of his revolvers.

Selfie Project

I like this picture because the position of the eyes matches well. It shows that the person likes animals.



I don't like this one as much but I like the way that the colours match very well. This show that the person likes bright colours.



I like this one because the filters match and the positioning of the photo is good. This shows that the person's look may have changed since that photo was taken.

My ideas:
Over the shoulder shot into my phone camera to show my face, my face might be covered by something to show a different face. The shot should be angled slightly to show more in the photograph.
